Since firefox 3.5, when viewing a gif image on windows 2000 Pro SP4, gif images are darker then should be. (at least i think its it gifs) this is still a problem with 3.6. this problm does not occur on my xp pc.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. View a webpage with firefox 3.5+ with .gif images on windows 2000.
Actual Results:  
images are darker. in ie they are fine.

Expected Results:  
images should be like in before firefox 3.5. (was fine in older versions)

Open FF, type about:config as URL, confirm the warning, enter color as search term in the top filter bar and change gfx.color_management.mode from 2 to 0
Does it fix the issue ?

oops, i got it wrong. it happens with PNG images. gifs and jpgs and everything else works fine. and the setting had no effect (or do i need to restart?). i have a screen shot i have put on my website that will show you more (dont go to my homepage, it has nothing to do with this)

NEVER MIND- ITS FIXED!!! I JUST HAD TO RESTART FIREFOX AFTER THE SETTING!!!!!!

now how would we make an update for Firefox to make it automatically change that setting for windows 2000?

This can not be fixed because nothing in the source code got changed.
It's either worksforme/invalid if this is a wrong color profile on your system or a valid new bug if not.

This is not a windows 2000 issue, it's something special on your system. You seem to have a wrong monitor color profile installed and many PNG images contain color information.
