User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2) Gecko/20100115 Firefox/3.6 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729)
Build Identifier: Eudora 8.0b8 // Thunderbird 3.0b4
If you have several accounts in Thunderbird and invoke mailto: from the browser, Thunderbird always creates the mail with the first account in your list. This is something that should be configurable via about:config variables.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Thunderbird, viewing any account (of multiple)
2. Click on a mailto: link from within a browser
3.
Actual Results:
Thunderbird always creates the mail with the information from the first account in your list.
Expected Results:
Thunderbird would create the mail using either (1) the mail account specified in about:config (there is no such variable today) or (2) the mailbox you are currently working in.

What is your default account? (In Tools -> Account Settings, check each account one by one by clicking the Account Actions drop-down menu at the bottom-left; the current default will have Set as Default disabled.)
Thunderbird will use your default account when mailto: links are opened, IIUC.
Adjusting summary accordingly; confirming as such.

OH, duh. Sorry. Wasn't aware of this button and had been looking everywhere else in the UI and config/prefs files for it.
Guess you can close this out as PBCAK.

Glad that helped.
I'll leave the enhancement open; someone else could perhaps make use of it, but it's unlikely to make any traction until then (as neither you nor I need it at present).

That looks like a duplicate of 64267.

I realize this may be a dupe, but I wanted to make sure everyone found out the real story on this. I tried this work-around (making another account the "default") and TB does NOT use the new default for meeting-acknowledgement and return-receipt mails (or at least, Eudora doesn't). It uses whatever is first in the Account list in the Eudora.ini file, not the top of the list in the Account Settings window.
This may be Eudora/penelope unique behavior, so it may not be a dupe after all.

I suggest you file a follow-up bug on Penelope for that behavior (which does seem to be Eudora/Penelope-specific), and I'll close this particular bug as a dupe.
