Can you please paste the exact article link that you are seeing this on? I surfed a few articles on mercurynews.com using Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2) Gecko/20100115 Firefox/3.6 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729) and I did not observe this issue. Thanks.

Has the crash reporter come up, and have you submitted the crash info to Mozilla? If not that information would give us a huge head start. Please see
http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Firefox+crashes for how to submit crashes and use about:crashes to find links to the details you can paste into this bug.
ds.serving-sys.com is an ad provider that uses Flash-based ads, and it's most likely Flash that is crashing. Crashes are more likely if you're running older versions of Flash and you're more at risk for malware infections so please check your plugin versions at https://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/
