planet.mozilla.org says: "Collected here are the most recent blog posts from all over the Mozilla community. The content here is unfiltered and uncensored, and represents the views of individual community members." config.ini says: [http://weblogs.mozillazine.org/gerv/index.rdf] keyword = NOT personal name = Gervase Markham filter = ([Mm]ozilla[^z]|[Ff]irefox|[Gg]ecko|[Ff]oundation|[Mm]o[Ff]o|[Ff]ree software|[Tt]hunderbird|[Bb]ugzilla) ... [http://weblogs.mozillazine.org/roc/index.rdf] name = Robert O'Callahan filter = ([Mm]ozilla[^z]|[Ff]irefox|[Gg]ecko|[Cc]airo|[Ww]eb|gfxTextRun|ATSUI|Pango|Uniscribe) I was wondering why some of my posts haven't been appearing. Please can the filter and keyword be removed from my entry? roc can, of course, speak for himself, but I noticed he was the only other person with a "filter =" entry, so I've CCed him here. Thanks, Gerv
a=dria and please do this quickly Gerv: I was under the impression that you and roc both knew about and were OK with these filters being in place (they predate my involvement as a module owner here). I'm really sorry I didn't follow up more diligently to make sure that was actually the case.
Thanks. They seem to have been there for quite a while - as far as I can tell, their introduction predates the move of the code to SVN. Gerv
I'm OK with my filters, although I'd rather they just checked for the category label "Mozilla".
Gerv, I changed you to just http://weblogs.mozillazine.org/gerv/index.rdf... However, your blog recommends http://feeds.feedburner.com/HackingForChrist. Would you rather I use that? roc, I think I fixed it to look for "Mozilla", though I could be wrong... Let me know if you see any oddness. You might have to set up something on the MT-side (such as a mozilla.rdf) that only has such posts. Here's what I have in the configs for reference... [http://weblogs.mozillazine.org/gerv/index.rdf] name = Gervase Markham [http://weblogs.mozillazine.org/roc/index.rdf] name = Robert O'Callahan keyword = Mozilla r63067

Reed: actually, yes please, if you could change to that URL, I'd be very grateful. Gerv

(In reply to comment #1) > Gerv: I was under the impression that you and roc both knew about and were OK > with these filters being in place (they predate my involvement as a module > owner here). I'm really sorry I didn't follow up more diligently to make sure > that was actually the case. Not that it matters too much now (hey, this module moves fast! ;-), but back when this originally became an issue, I'm pretty sure we contacted everyone else who had filters imposed upon them (since that's what started the discussion), and made sure they were OK with their existing filters. In fact, I know you knew about them Gerv: http://soberbuildengineer.com/blog/2007/02/mmozillazffirefoxggeckottunderbird/#comment-304 (roc comments in the post as well.) Of course, we're happy to change/remove/etc. them (and in fact, I don't think filters are really the way to go anymore; category feeds are much cleaner); I just wanted to note that we take the filters seriously, and do not arbitrarily impose them anymore. I think everyone involved with the module is very serious about ensuring that people's content is not censored.
That was back when tor "was trying to keep the planet on-topic". For whatever reason, when that policy changed, my filter didn't get removed and I'd forgotten it was there. I don't remember getting an email about it, otherwise I'm sure I'd have asked for it to be removed. Ah well, all fixed now :-) Gerv
