I've got another hang on launch with Lanikai. It's probably an already-reported bug, but I have managed to capture it with an imap and msgdb logging turned on.

= Steps =
1. Launch Lanikai
2. Click "OK" on the lightning pop up asking for username/password

= Actual Results =
Lanikai hangs. It goes into spinning beach ball mode in mere moments after launch and does not seem to recover. I have to force quit it.

I'm running: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; en-US; rv:1.9.2.2pre) Gecko/20100223 Lightning/1.1a1pre Lanikai/3.1b1pre

= Expected =
It would download some mail, index it, and continue working.

I'll attach my log file, hopefully that will give you some insight into it.
Ok, bugzilla won't let me attach a log that big. it's at: http://people.mozilla.org/lanikai.zip
Clint do you get the same hang when you start Thunderbird in -safe-mode ?
Hmm...I don't know. I got very frustrated with Lanikai and created a new profile, reconfigured all my filtering to happen on the server and moved the directory structure around so that I'm using a simpler profile (nearly empty) with server-side filtering now. I can try starting the old profile and seeing what happens, but I fear that if it does manifest an odd behavior it could be due to all these changes. I'll give it a whirl today and see what happens.

Sorry Ludo, I just couldn't take it anymore.

Don't be you need to work on your stuff too :-) I'm just trying to figuring out if the issue comes from Lightning or not.

Can you check it's still there, I get a 404 when trying that URL.

Opening the old profile, doesn't even bring up a UI. It's probably completely confused by a bunch of missing IMAP folders that exist in the profile but no longer exist on the server.

Oops, typo in the URL: http://people.mozilla.org/~ctalbert/lanikai.zip that should work better.
clint, with indexing turned on, right? did you try with indexing off?
/me fixing clint's bug flags

not many startup hangs reported. xref:
bug 548520 Thunderbird hangs solid when starting up (reading global-messages-db.sqlite)
Bug 528505 - hang after starting 3.0rc1
Severity: normal → critical

Yes, indexing was on. No, I didn't try it with indexing turned off.

Is what I found in the log.
Whiteboard: [has logs]
is this seen in trunk or 3.1?
bienvenu, do you get anything out of comment 9?
Clint, do you still have the old profile for testing?

We should close this if there's no possibility for progress.

No, failing to open a db is usually faster than succeeding.
No, I don't have that profile anymore.

Sorry :(
