We've been seeing some issues on mradm02 (high load, caused a by a ton of php processes all running affiliates_cron.php and not exiting, which in turn uses up RAM and causes the machine to swap) for about a week now. I've disabled the cron as of 5 mins ago and I'm watching the box to confirm that this is indeed the cause. If this is the case, we would have to look into what the cron job does and if it has to run once an hour or maybe stagger the runs even more.
Once a day would be fine.
and, could we have the cron job create a lock file? so it never starts two processes?
did you ever turn this back on?
hello??
hello Alex, Nice to see you!
Funny, never got your last comment. No, I'll turn it on to run once a day now.

I've turned it back on for once a day now, if it runs into issues again, I'll put in the lockfile.
