User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2) Gecko/20100115 Firefox/3.6 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2) Gecko/20100115 Firefox/3.6 The tab list gets funked up after scrolling (see below for more info). I think this bug might have been introduced in v3.6, as I never saw it before the upgrade. Sorry if this is a dupe - I couldn't find anything when I searched for "tab list". Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Start Firefox (optionally in Safe Mode). 2. Hold Ctrl+T until enough tabs open that the tab list will scroll. (You should be on the last tab.) 3. Click on the tab list button. 4. Press UP (on keyboard) once to scroll to the last tab on the tab list. (You don't have to press Enter.) 5. Press ESC to exit the tab list. 6. Press Ctrl+PgDn - this should move you back to the first tab. 7. Right click the first tab -> Select "Close Other Tabs". * The tab list should now be funked up. (On my computer it is 100% reproducible.) * Restart Firefox to get the tab list back to normal. (I didn't find another way to do this without a restart, but I didn't spend a lot of time searching.) Actual Results: The first few tabs seem to show up as blank entries at the end of the list (instead of non-blank entries at the top); the blank entries don't respond to mouse clicks. Expected Results: Obviously the tab list should list all tabs and not show blank entries.
Have you also run a test in a fresh profile? Would be worth trying out.
I just now reproduced it with a fresh profile on another WinXP computer.
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.3a2pre) Gecko/20100226 Minefield/3.7a2pre I can also reproduce the bug with the latest Minefield from here: ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/nightly/latest-trunk/
I have problems to reproduce the mentioned issue with a Namoroka nightly. Brandon, can you please test the following build: http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/2010/02/2010-02-28-04-mozilla-1.9.2/
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.2pre) Gecko/20100228 Namoroka/3.6.2pre Yes, I can reproduce it with that build also. Are you using a different OS (I'm on Windows XP)? If so, then maybe the bug is OS-specific?
No, I have used a XP virtual machine. So i wonder if it is only visible on a native machine. Which graphics card and drivers do you have?
Intel(R) 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics Controller I also reproduced the bug on another person's WinXP computer, which most likely has different hardware and drivers. In case the above steps to reproduce are unclear, I attached a video showing exactly how I am able to reproduce the bug. (I made the video with my usual profile, but I can also reproduce the bug with a new profile, all add-ons disabled, in exactly the same way.) Bug_548707.avi (1.55 MB, 1:37 minutes, XVID 800x600 20.00fps 130Kbps) MD5: d0c617378ec31f05322d8256e47b34b4 Alternate download method: http://rapidshare.com/files/358071048/Bug_548707.avi In step 2 you have to open a lot of tabs. The exact number needed will vary depending on your desktop resolution, but it has to be enough so that the "tab list" (<-- not the same as "tab strip") is scrollable.
...since Firefox can play Ogg Theora out of the box. For some reason ffmpeg2theora speeds the video up in the conversion process, so the clip now runs for about 22 seconds instead of 1:37 minutes.
Attachment #429874 - Attachment is obsolete: true
I'm still not able to reproduce this problem with recent Namoroka builds in my WinXP VM. Sadly I do not have any native installation. Marcia, would you have a minute to test the steps from comment 0 on a native box?
Oh, and does the same happen with Firefox 3.5.9, Brandon?
Sorry about the late reply - I had stopped regular monitoring of the bug report. An update: CANNOT reproduce: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.9) Gecko/20100315 Firefox/3.5.9 CAN reproduce, as always: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.3) Gecko/20100401 Firefox/3.6.3 The bug exhibits when I click the tab list button using the mouse; I recently noticed that the strangeness goes away if I then press the DOWN arrow on the keyboard. Upon pressing DOWN the blank list is populated with tab thumbnails and page titles. Strange bug. CANNOT reproduce: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.3a5pre) Gecko/20100606 Minefield/3.7a5pre So it is apparently fixed in the latest nightly build. (At least I couldn't reproduce it using the steps in comment 0.)
Dao, can you remember of any fix on the trunk which could have been fixed this reported issue?

Attached image empty tab list
I didn't do anything nearly as complicated. * list of about 30 tabs, everyone one of them bugzilla. * deleted them one by one. probably did a couple undos. * last action prior to seeing the problem was probably ctrl+w to close a tab. see full on, empty tab list. I never saw a _partial_ list like the other reporters. Using daughter's PC, so this isn't a system I normally use. ever seen this before, even on systems with tons more tabs and far more activity in those tabs. Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9.2.7) Gecko/20100713 Firefox/3.6.7 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729) AIM Toolbar 5.21.1.1 FEBE 6.1 [DISABLED] Flashblock 1.5.10 [DISABLED] Java Console 6.0.13 Java Console 6.0.15 Microsoft .NET Framework Assistant 1.1 Move Media Player 1.0.0.%(version)s Nightly Tester Tools 2.0.2 ThinkVantage Password Manager 2.0 [DISABLED]
Unable to reproduce this on latest Nightly (build ID: 20130809030203) using the steps from Description. The tab list lists all opened tabs each time. Closing as WFM, if someone is able to reproduce this please reopen the bug.
