Description

STR: Visit https://www.paypal.com

Expected result: "PayPal, Inc. (US)" is displayed over a green background to the right of the favicon in the address bar.

Actual result: The favicon is displayed over a green background, but the text is not displayed next to the icon.

This may have been an intentional change, but nobody on IRC seemed to be aware of it, and it's a somewhat surprising change.

This happens on my Windows box, Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.3a3pre) Gecko/20100304 Minefield/3.7a3pre,

but not on my Linux box, Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.3a3pre) Gecko/20100304 Minefield/3.7a3pre.

It started working properly again after I disabled Adblock Plus and restarted my browser.  Re-enabling adblock plus, it still works properly.

The problem was also occurring on regular https sites; I just didn't realize that non-EV pages displayed the domain name next to the favicon.

In the absence of a screenshot, perhaps it helps to say that it looked like a space was being displayed in place of the company name / domain name.

Here's what I *think* was doing when this first started happening: I was signed into bankofamerica.com and also paypal.com.  I closed my bankofamerica.com tab, and then tried to ctrl+shift+t reopen it sometime later.  BoA gave me a strange error message (not their usual branded error page, but maybe just a line or two of text), and I think after that this issue began occurring.

Naturally I've tried to reproduce and haven't been able to.

So we may have some broken chrome code in there but haven't broken EV itself -- that's a relief!

Justin - is it possible that you have a theme installed or some other addon that may have been interfering?

In case it happens again, can you:

1) Open about:config
2) Switch the javascript.options.showInConsole preference to true

If you see the behaviour again, open up the Error Console from the tools menu, and paste in any errors you see that might be relevant? Grasping at straws here, but you're the only person I've seen reporting this.

The only extension/theme I have installed is Adblock Plus.  It's entirely possible that the extension was at fault, although it's usually very well-behaved.

I've never been able to reproduce this, with or without extensions.  Marking as WORKSFORME.
