Reproducible: Always
In Options > Penelope > Mailboxes, is the "Show mailbox on select" option checked or unchecked?
My money is on the option not being checked. Closing.

this was indeed the problem. when upgrading from 8.0b8 to 8.0b9, it seems that all my penelope preferences were reset.
