steps to reproduce:
1.As per https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=550380#c0 ,experimental add-ons should not be listed for anonymous users
2.Without logging in,go to search results page https://preview.addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/search?q=blue&cat=1%2C72
observed behavior:
Experimental add-ons are listed in search results for anonymous users.

This shouldn't be targeted in this milestone as backfilling experimental addons is what we've always done in the search engine (it's in production).
I don't think we should hide experimental addons in the search engine - just bury them.... which is what we do now.

bug 524005 is a RFE whereas this is bug about the discrepancy of the current implementation against your spec documented in https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=550380#c0
We can "WONTFIX" this bug if we decide that backfilling with exp add-ons is the right way to do it.
It is better to track https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=524005#c4 as s separate bug.So reopening this bug.

If we're not going to backfill them, then what was the point of making the buttons with checkboxes to enable them? -> fligtar for decision

When the user is sorting the search results, the experimental add-ons are not buried anymore-
For example:
https://preview.addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/search?sort=averagerating&q=&appid=1&cat=0%2C0&tag=&atype=-1&pid=-1&lup=&lver=any&pp=20
here the search results are sorted by "rating"
Experimental add-on-" Maryamsoft Online Dictionary And Translator" is listed in the first page.

Yes, we backfill for "relevance" sort only since we are making a judgement call that experimental addons are not as relevant.
Whereas an explicit sort should not be backfilled as that would then be unsorted.
