The check mail tool-bar item and the check mail menu item don't do anything.  Mail is only checked automatically at the intervals set in the options.

I had looked for this bug before I submitted it.  There does seem to be 2 [penelope_wants] on the white board.  Is that the duplicate?  If not how do you know its a duplicate-would help me out in the future because there are quite a few things I want to add or vote for.  Thanks,  David
