rm command removes the file, but files command still shows it

Details

Here are the steps to reproduce this:

1. run files on a directory
2. remove a file in that directory
3. run files on that directory again

You'd expect that the file would be gone from the listing, but it's not. It 
does get removed from the filesystem.
