User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2) Gecko/20100115 Firefox/3.6 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729) Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2) Gecko/20100115 Firefox/3.6 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729) Opening tabs in current window become unordered. Before the most recent upgrade, tabs would open up from left to right in the order you opened them up. Go to Tools->Options->Tabs, and there is no option to use the currently implemented tab opening technique vs. the originally implemented tab ordering. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Right click a link and open as new tab. 2. The tab is shown right of the page you are in. 3. The tab is not shown at the end of the tabs, and thus ruins the order in which tabs are opened. Actual Results: Confusion, I would have to say. It doesn't break the application, but makes it very difficult to use. Expected Results: Opening a new tabs defautly shows up as the right-most tab. I expect the current tab ordering on opening new tabs to be changeable to the way it currently is by using Tools->Options->Tabs, but not defautly configured that way. This may be a duplicate issue, but I could not find it. If so, this should be considered a high priority must do issue, as this was introduced in this new version without asking me. It should ask if you would like your preferences similar to IE or Firefox on first startup, if tab ordering is to be able to be defautly working like it is now. I have tried this on three different computers using version 3.6, all with the same results. Downgrade to the previous version, 3.5, this issue does not occur.
That was introduced in bug 465673.
This other issue does not address the point that tabs should defautly work like it has in the past. Only if there is an option on first run to choose for it to work like >= IE 7.0, should it defautly use IE 7.0 behavior. But it is interesting which bug this was first introduced. Defiantly a related issue.
I just discovered this same issue and it is quite confusing. When clicking for a new tab, instead of the new tab going to the right (to the far end of all other open tabs, it throws it to the left. It happened with the latest Firefox update. Quite annoying and distracting.
Absolutely unacceptable change in UI behavior. A thousand times more unacceptable to make the new behavior default, to the tenth power unacceptable to not have a preferences setting to change it back to the tab behavior we've expected for years. I always want my first three or four tabs to be the windows I use most often. I am used to a right-clicked link opening to the far right end of my list of tabs, and it is perfectly easy to use either mouse/trackpad or keyboard shortcuts to navigate there in the blink of an eye. I just installed the new update and was instantly annoyed by this change in behavior.

Not duplicate, as devs constantly insist this is a WONTFIX issue. Issue reopened and cannot be duplicatable until this issue is fixed.
Tamus, do not mess with duplicate bugs. Leave a cooment if you disagree.

Ok. My mistake. But I would like this a duplicate of https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=554690, and not bug 539986. This bug was re-opened because the devs asked for a new issue to be reopened. 554690 has been opened for that reason.
