552630 - jpg color does not match background color, only in firefox, web safe colors are used

The jpg background blue hue does not match the background blue. Shows ok in Opera, IE, Photoshop, Image ready. Image created in Photoshop CS2, the blue hue is web safe. (...you see the jpg image border, wich is supposed to merge seamlessly with the background)

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Display http://www.vds-multimedia.be/VdsSkills/Vdscrafts.html
2.See the jpg borders ?
3.Only visible in firefox.
Actual Results:  
See the jpg borders ?

Expected Results:  
Watch in Opera, or IE, or Dreamweaver CS3...No borders in sight

Well I use the "hello kitty" theme but is this relevant ?

Looks fine in Firefox to me, identical to how it looks in Opera.
I'd say that it's the embedded colour profiles in the images conflicting with the profile Firefox tries to detect in your monitor. Three Options:

1) Remove the profiles in the images themselves
2) Change/fix your monitor colour profile
3) In Firefox, change the value of gfx.color_management.mode in about:config to 0

Isn't the color management supposed to be handled by the OS ?
Profiles in the jpg are part of jpg spec, should be handled properly by Firefox ?
I use a dual screen setup but not sure if relevant.
Changed the jpg's to Gif's that fixed it, but it's a workaround.
My link still points to the original page with the jpg's if you need to investigate. Thank you.

Reporter, are you still seeing this issue with Firefox 3.6.13 or later in safe mode? If not, please close. These links can help you in your testing.

Well I put Gifs instead of Jpg to work around the problem
So the problem is gone on original Url (because I put Gifs instead), so I set the problem back.

Here is url with jpgs background color mismatch, still not good on 3.6.13
Checked in safe mode, not good either

On the latest nightly of both trunk and Namoroka, with a monitor calibrated with a ColorMunki Photo and gfx.color_management.mode set to 1 I see no image borders except where the lighthouse's glow is cut off.

Checked colors of actual Gif and Jpg with Photoshop CS2 color picker
Its 3398CC, background on Html page set to 3399CC

I set the html background to 3398CC
Top pic is Gif, Bottom is Jpg
I still see a difference with the Jpg, no diff. with Gif

No reply, INCOMPLETE. Please retest with Firefox 3.6.13 or later and a new profile (http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+profiles). If you continue to see this issue with the newest firefox and a new profile, then please comment on this bug.
