In order to get back hard drive space, when AutoSync "mail.server.default.autosync_offline_stores" is set to false, remove message bodies and attachments from the offline-stores (only leave e-mail-headers stored for offline use).

OfflineStore file is not for Auto-Sync only.

Following means "Ordinal/Tradittional Offline-Use" is used.
  mail.server.server#.autosync_offline_stores=false
  mail.server.default.autosync_offline_stores=false
Ordinal/Tradittional Offline-Use is:
(1) If Download is explicitly requested at Folder Properties/Synchronization manually,
    entire mail data is downloaded to OfflineStore.
(2) If Offline-Use=On is set at Folder Properties/Synchronization,
    upon going to Work Offline,
    if automatix download is requeste, entire mail data is downloaded to OfflineStore.
    if Ask is requested and Download is requested by dialog, entire mail data is downloaded to OfflineStore.
(3) While Work Offline mode, mail data in OfflineStore is used.
Auto-Sync merely utilizes OfflineStore file for this purpose.

For above purpose, "Remove OfflineStore file merely by setting mail.server.server#.autosync_offline_stores=false or Offline-Use=Off" is wasting of band width.
IIRC, OfflineStore file is cleared by "Repair Folder".
I'm not sure about Compact.
"Retention setting for mails in OfflineStore" may be usable to clear OfflineStore file.
Regardless of mail.server.server#.autosync_offline_stores setting, regardless of Offline-Use of folder,
"Manual deletion of OfflineStore file" won't produce any problem.
  If Auto-Sync=On, mail is downloaded again by auto-sync sooner or later.
  While Work Offline, data of mail is merely not usable.
