When I close my browser (even force-close the process with Task Manager) while streaming video from YouTube (I don't know about the other streaming video websites), there will be an unknown process keeps downloading something (and, no, it's not from my other processes; I've triple-checked it). The unknown process cannot be killed, and will always download something, even though I've logged off from Windows and logged in again. I must restart my computer to shut this process down.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open YouTube, and play any video
2. Open any network traffic monitoring software (I use Network Traffic Monitor), and notice all the processes which are downloading something
3. In the middle of streaming, close the browser
4. Take a look in the network traffic monitoring software, there's a new unknown process downloading something (no firefox.exe).
5. You'll have the process ID, but the process with the same process ID won't show up on your active process list (I use What's Running to see the active processes); so, you cannot kill the process.
Actual Results:
An unknown process "replaces" firefox.exe and keeps downloading something.

Expected Results:
No unknown process. My Network traffic decreased.

Even with all plugins disabled, the problem still occurs.
I don't know whether the problem still occurred in fast Internet speed; try to lower your speed. I use (up to) 512 kbps internet bandwidth.
are you aware that now firefox has 2 processes: firefox.exe and mozilla-runtime.exe?
Yes, I'm aware of that. For additional detail, I've uploaded some images picturing how this problem occurs.

1. I open minefield and start the Network Traffic Monitor (henceforth NTM).
2. I load a facebook page and this is what happened in NTM:

http://lh3.ggpht.com/_iouGJLrXilc/S6ORb-aI_4I/AAAAAAAAACU/rPTgOR8TC4c/ntm%20-%20before.png

3. I select the firefox.exe and this is the detail:

http://lh6.ggpht.com/_iouGJLrXilc/S6ORcFeK_UI/AAAAAAAAACY/-OrP_XrmqsM/ntm%20-%20ff%20pid.png

4. I start What's Running (henceforth, WR) and this is the screenshot:

5. I open the link I gave in the bug report (basically it can be any youTube video):

http://lh3.ggpht.com/_iouGJLrXilc/S6ORckxdmCI/AAAAAAAAACg/Qvcdhksunrc/s720/ff%20-%20open%20utube.png

6. I check the NTM and here's the screenshot:

http://lh5.ggpht.com/_iouGJLrXilc/S6ORdF3VOeI/AAAAAAAAACk/6tpZ5adK-Gk/ntm%20-%20open%20utube.png

7. I close minefield and check the NTM. this is the NTM screenshot after I closed minefield:

http://lh6.ggpht.com/_iouGJLrXilc/S6OSSlLcbUI/AAAAAAAAACo/_S--9SqIBdI/ntm%20-%20after.png

8. I check the firefox.exe detail in NTM:

http://lh6.ggpht.com/_iouGJLrXilc/S6OSS7pzW9I/AAAAAAAAACs/DIwEFeAoQhc/ntm%20-%20after%20pid.png

9. I check WR and this is the screeshot:

http://lh4.ggpht.com/_iouGJLrXilc/S6OSS6fBu1I/AAAAAAAAACw/Vi4Kt8gLQ6I/wr%20-%20no%20ff.png

10. I close NTM and restart it. This is the screenshot:

http://lh3.ggpht.com/_iouGJLrXilc/S6OSTRt2qtI/AAAAAAAAAC0/HEguVgLBvXk/ntm%20-%20after%20close.png

11. I check the detail of the unknown process:

http://lh4.ggpht.com/_iouGJLrXilc/S6OSTvH6-RI/AAAAAAAAAC4/o7ViHU-u7XU/ntm%20-%20after%20close%20pid.png

12. I start minefield again and load a webpage. This is the NTM screenshot:

http://lh3.ggpht.com/_iouGJLrXilc/S6OSy7dgIrI/AAAAAAAAAC8/io2uiGuhcxY/ntm%20-%20reopen%20ff.png

It looks like the minefield process goes zombie after streaming from youtube.
Reporter, are you still seeing this issue with Firefox 3.6.13 or later in safe mode? If not, please close. These links can help you in your testing.

You can also try to reproduce in Firefox 4 Beta 8 or later, there are many improvements in the new version, http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-beta.html

Tyler, I stopped using minefield due to this issue and, unfortunately, I never checked this bug again in minefield since then. I'm currently using FF 3.6.13 and it seems nothing like this happened, maybe it's been fixed.

I'll close the bug right away.
