User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.2) Gecko/20100207 Namoroka/3.6
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.1.8) Gecko/20100301 Lightning/1.0b1 Shredder/3.0.3
Selecting an image with the browse window does not add anything to the location bar.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Start new message and enter body pane.
2.Select Insert, Image from the menus.
3.Under Image Properties dialog box, Location tab, select Choose File.
4.Navigate to image file, select it and select Open.
5.See that nothing is in Image Location area and Okay button is inactive.
Actual Results:
Cannot get an image inserted into a message.
Expected Results:
Should be able to select and insert.
Found a work-around by actually typing in the full pathname of the file into the Image Location area.

Have you tried safe mode? (see https://support.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode for more information)
Any error messages on Tools -> Error console when it fails to load the image ?
Ludovic, there is no "safe mode" in Linux.
Am using Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.2.8) Gecko/20100806 Lightning/1.0b2 Lanikai/3.1.2, and the problem still exists.

Oops. Billionaire Bill has got me too well trained. After 25 years helping people with their windows ****, all I know is a Safe Mode in the OS. I have got to stop thinking micro$oft. Damn. Any way, sorry for jumping to a conclusion.
You folks meant program safe mode and I was thinking OS safe mode. I should have known better.
So, it was a good tip, as it turned out. As soon as I went into Thunderbird Safe Mode, the problem went away, and I could select an image and paste it into the mail, and it looked great.
I disabled all add-ons (extensions) and after restarting and testing, I started reinstalling various groups of add-ons. I was surpised to learn that it was Mail Tweak 1.0pre7 that caused the problem.
Again, sorry for the confusion. I'll contact Rod Whiteley about it instead.
Thanks for your help, everyone.

I sent Rod an email, but it was returned as undeliverable. I will instead post directly on his MozillaZine forum. Thanks.
