1 go to:
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/3.5.8/firstrun/

If you click on the video, nothing happens, this video is hosted on Dailymotion and it seems that it is no longer available at the url we provide, the video should probably be moved to a mozilla site or the url to the dailymotion one fixed.

John, can you help me out here? I'm not sure of the history behind this page, why we hosted this video at DailyMotion, or where to get the video so I can fix this.

Raising this to critical as it's a broken in-product page.

Bug 519291 only has some small history.

Unfortunately the bulk of the conversations with Daily Motion were held by pkim and Alix, who of course are no longer at Mozilla.

The basic background, though, is that we placed that content there to highlight 3.5's open video capabilities, and partnered with Daily Motion to host it. We also put a fallback option in place in case Daily Motion went down, so I'm not sure why that's not working.

Am copying Matt here, b/c he'll know more about the fallback option. Matt, do you know why the video on the 3.5 page isn't reverting to our non-Daily Motion provider at this point? And, now that 3.5 is no longer the most current version of Firefox I'm guessing that the traffic on this page is a lot lower...is moving this content onto our own servers feasible? If so, that would be the best option for the long term.

In the short term, I'll try to track down our Daily Motion contact and see what's going on.

Very nice. So how do we resolve this so everyone sees that secret?

It's always been a manual fall back (as mentioned elsewhere in this bug).

Best long term option is to push this to videos.mozilla.org which is offloaded to EdgeCast and have them serve it. You can file a bug to get that part set.
