I updated to Firefox 3.6.2 yesterday and all was well running on OSX 10.5.8. today I did an apple security update along with itunes, and now when going to a site that was working this morning firefox gets stuck verifying java settings when opening the program. Safari does the same thing but it goes through the screen and there are normally two pop up windows which are asking if you want to allow a certain cite to communicate with your computer. I now do not get these windows and thus the site will not function. If I select the site again it will take me to the site but will not do an active updates. I have uninstalled firefox and reinstalled but still does not work. i have removed the casch, and cookies and still no change. i have talked to apple and they tried all they could but said that i should contact Mozilla. I had no problem on 3.6 or 3.6.2 but now after the update from apple it gets stuck. Safari however still will get to the site, i just do not like safari as well. If you need further information please e-mail me, hagrove@hotmail.com Thanks.
hagrove, what java version do you have installed. I would suggest you open a new bug.
Hagrove sent in personal e-mail: "My Java is 12.5.0 and according to the apple site this is the latest version. OSX is 10.5.8 Latest security update is 2010-002.( that update today is when the problem started) Firefox is 3.6.2 This sounds like the same issue but I can open a new bug if you feel necessary, just did not want to duplicate." Plese do not send e-mail to people on bugzilla, but post all replies on bugzilla. Create a new profile and test there. http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Managing+profiles
Reporter, are you still seeing this issue with Firefox 3.6.13 or later in safe mode? If not, please close. These links can help you in your testing. http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+profiles You can also try to reproduce in Firefox 4 Beta 8 or later, there are many improvements in the new version, http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-beta.html

I received a request today to check to see if the bug still exists. It does in Firefox 3.6.13. Note no problem in Safari. As a note, the problem was corrected briefly in 3.6.3 and then it appeared again in the following version and I have not been able to make it work since until the beta version, and I have tried with each upgrade. I just downloaded Firefox 4.0b8 and the bug is not there, so if there are not changes when this is put out it will work. Can I continue to use the beta version or do I need to go back to 3.6.13? Since this seems to work and I do like the changes that I have seen thus far I would like to continue to use the beta version. Please advise as to whether I need to go back or not. hagrove@hotmail.com will do for notification. I will be out of touch for the next two weeks so if there are further communication that need a reply, please allow adequate time for me to get back to you. End result, problem still exists in current publicized version. Not sure if you want to close it until the actual publicized version has corrected the issue. I guess that is entirely your call. Regards
No reply, INCOMPLETE. Please retest with Firefox 3.6.13 or later and a new profile (http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+profiles). If you continue to see this issue with the newest firefox and a new profile, then please comment on this bug.
