User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.2.2) Gecko/20100316 Firefox/3.6.2 GTB7.0 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.2.2) Gecko/20100316 Firefox/3.6.2 GTB7.0 With the Brazilian ABNT2 keyboard it is possible to write some special chars using the right alt key as a compose key. It works in any program, inclusive Firefox. Here are some of the special chars I can use: “”ºª→§«©® But in Firefox the emdash char doesn't work when I press "right alt-," (comma). It works in any application, I can even copy from the console to this form textarea: ─ It would be nice to be able to enter the char directly from the keyboard. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. In linux (I use KDE), configure your keyboard as Brazilian ABNT2. You don't need to change the language of the operating system. 2. Test if you can use the right alt key as compose: RAlt-i should generate a →, RAlt-= generates a § 3. Click anywhere you can write in Firefox: a form text input, the url location or even in the search field in google toolbar plugin 4. Press RAlt-, and nothing happens. Actual Results: Nothing happens Expected Results: The character ─ should have appeared in the input field when the right alt and the comma are pressed together.
