The program says that I'm connected to my SBCGlobal account (pop.att.yahoo.com) and supposedly accesses mail and folders, but doesn't display anything.   

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.click the get mail button
2.program says its connected to site
3.never displays anything

Can you get a POP log, following the directions that https://wiki.mozilla.org/MailNews:Logging provides?

Also, check to see if safe mode (https://support.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode) helps.
