MODIFICATION_FAILIED. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Export Lightning setting 2.Import Lightning settings, fails. 3. Actual Results: An error occurred when writing to the calendar Home! MODIFICATION_FALIED.
This belongs in Calendar, so moving. (I'll hazard a guess that this has something to do with the ICS provider....)

You are not exporting settings according to your description. You are exporting the actual calendar data. The import of the same data will show this message because the data already exists in the database. If you check Tools > Error Console you'll probably see a corresponding message.
It seems I'm having a similar problem on a Ubuntu 10.04 LTS x86_64 system. In the 9.10 box I was able to interact with the ical on my gmail calendar but with this upgrade (TB 3.0.4 + L 1.0b1) every time I try to access it gives me the error

Hello Stefan, I also run into Brian's & Leo's problem. I think it is a shortcoming the events in the Lightning calendar cannot be overwritten by events being imported from an ICS file. Here is my use case: There is a company's calendar daily being exported as as an ICS file. Sometimes the event's SUMMERY,DTSTART, etc. changes. This events won't be imported to the calendar, but it should. I hpoe this clarifies the issue. BR Stefan
I think for this use case you cannot use Import but Syncornize: Calendar - New calendar - On the network: file:///path_of_file.ics For later modification simply hit Syncronize
