User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US) AppleWebKit/532.5 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/4.1.249.1045 Safari/532.5 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.9) Gecko/20100317 Thunderbird/3.0.4 I've marked this as "Critical", as it does indeed cause me to lose data. When opening an email, the previously viewed email is displayed momentarily (between 1 and 2 seconds) until the actual email to be opened is ready to be displayed. 1-2 seconds is plenty of time for me to read a simple email (such as an automatic notification). This bug leads me to sometimes delete an email inappropriately. I open the email, read the previous email's message, and then delete it (even though I've never actually seen the real email's message). I wonder how many job search notifications I've deleted before reading them, on account of this bug... Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. read email "A" 2. close email "A" 3. open email "B" Actual Results: On step three, a new tab will open to view the message (as expected). However, the message displayed will first be from email "A". email "B" will be displayed eventually. Expected Results: If Thunderbird doesn't know what message to display yet or isn't ready to display the message, it should display a blank page. If I open any given email, I expect to see either that same email or a blank page.
This looks like a duplicate of bug 551400 -- can you check that and resolve this as duplicate if so? Thanks.
Nope, not a dup. That other bug: - only happens sometimes - bug is obvious (due to gibberish message body) My bug: - happens all the time - can occur undetected (because the message body is that of another message, it can sometimes look reasonable and thus be missed) Also, I'd like to expand my earlier description to say that 1-2 seconds is only the normal period of time for which the wrong message body is displayed. For large emails or when my computer is busy on other tasks, I've seen the wrong message sit there for a good 10 seconds before Thunderbird finally loads the correct message.
But this is a duplicate of bug 537122. However, that bug is marked as an "enhancement", while I firmly believe that this is a critical bug.
