Build Identifier:
The Mozilla add-ons web site has a lot of advertising on the main page (the list of collections, the animated list of add-ons, the most shared list, the list of recommended add-ons etc.) which is frequently useless and distracting to experienced users, though it may be very useful to new users. Please consider adding an account option to disable it.

Reproducible: Always

I think this content is useful to people who are even experienced users, as the point of these is to promote add-ons that they may not know about. If you already know what you want to find, the search box is at the top. Otherwise, you're likely there to discover new add-ons, and that's just what those modules do.
I don't really want to get in the habit of adding a bunch of account settings to enable/disable minor individual site features like those. If it bothers you a ton, you could write a Greasemonkey script or style to hide it. We'll likely be getting rid of the rotating promo module later this year anyway.
