We currently copy what formfill implements, but that's changing for the new html5 inputs starting with bug 557620. This code needs to be updated: http://hg.mozilla.org/labs/weave/file/420f7d16e054/source/modules/engines/forms.js#l261 Alternatively we use bug 487558 to get a notification.
