Minefield dock icon is towards the left of the dock; however, when launched, a new icon in addition to the one already in the dock. It bounces like it's launching, then stops and remains in the dock. When Minefield is quit, it goes away.
In rare instances, it goes away after a while.

It does not seem to happen if the icon is not locked in the dock on launch.

This has been observed in the 32bit and 64bit kernel of OS X 10.6.3 on a 2.4GHz MacBook Pro (2010 model) This behavior is not observed on 64bit 10.6.3 on a Mac Pro 2.8GHz (2008)

1.create permanent dock icon for minefield
2.launch app from that icon
3.?????
4.profit
Actual Results:  
I didn't profit and there was a duplicate dock icon

Expected Results:  
Only shown one icon in the dock.
