When thunderbird asks for main password you can simply press few times "cancel" button and you can read all e-mails on your account. Unfortunately everyone can do this so everyone can read your e-mails without breaking the password.Mozilla please repair that :)

The master password is NOT to protect your emails (which are stored on your hard disk - any app can read them). It only protects the passwords which are needed to receive new emails, not the ones you already have.
