If you use a localized Thunderbird 3.1 build on 10.6, than you have no blue Apple search menu, as you can see in the screenshot. So this will hurt the most of the Mac OS X users.
This is not a m-c bug, it's a core Bug in 1.9.2 and fixed only in 1.9.3 (489196 / 539317).

Note: I tried this today with the same regression range as bug 543077 comment 15. They were the same, so I expect that these two bugs are the same issue.

Scrub that, I was reading the wrong bug.

Since we know this is an existing core bug, marking as duplicate of one of those bugs, since that's where we get the fix being put into branch.
