This happens if you assign a content-type to the firefox application and Firefox can not handle the content-type. You have a loop in such a case. Do you assigned a helper application to Firefox itself under tools/options/applications ? Do you have the flip4mac plugin installed ? The content-type in this case is video/x-ms-wmv

flip4mac was installed. v2.3.2.6. when I went to investigate the version via System Preferences -> Flip4Mac, it informed me that there was a newer version. Once installed, it works, but the preferences panel for flip4mac now reports 2.3.1.2 is installed. Most confusing. also, flip4mac preferences was set to check for updates weekly? Anyway, it would be nice if Firefox could handle this failure a bit more gracefully - assuming that is feasible. A check on opening N windows in < N seconds perhaps? Thanks to all.
