Firefox could allow a site to stay permanently in the address bar ... like the MRU List in Microsoft Office 2007.

looks like adding a bookmark to the bookmarks toolbar would obtain the same (or even better) benefits. Also about:newTab has similar results in a better fashion.
Thus I'm prone to call this a wontfix since alternatives are better.
