Thunderbird failed to find the settings for your email account

The auto-discovery in the "Mail Account Setup" dialog does not succeed finding incoming & outgoing mail server named "mail" - e.g. mail.does-not-exi.st

I suggest to
1) add "mail" as a possible hostname to be tested for known ports
 - and -
2) perform a DNS lookup for the MX records and test servers from the reply

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Select "Add mail account" in "Account actions" in account settings
2. Enter name and email address "[e-mail]" in the "Mail Account Setup" dialog and press continue

Actual Results:  
Thunderbird failed to find the settings for your email account

Username: mailboxname
Incoming: pop.spachti.org pop3 110
Outgoing: smtp.spachti.org

Expected Results:  
username: [e-mail]
incoming: mail.spachti.org imap 143
outgoing: mail.spachti.org smtp 25

1) add "mail" as a default prefix to the domainname

and

2) perform a DNS lookup for the MX record of the domain contained in the email address and test the server in the answer.

THE BEHAVIOUR DESCRIBED ABOVE WAS BECAUSE OF a DESKTOP FIREWALL PROBLEM.
The correct mail servers are found. Sorry for this.

UPDATED PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
The "mail account setup" wizard does not find the correct username

current behaviour: username "mailboxname"
expected behaviour: username "[e-mail]"

1) the username should by default be the email address (inlcuding the domain part)
2) if the password for the mailbox is provided, login should be tested

We test both. During:

> 2) if the password for the mailbox is provided, login should be tested

We do.

When you click "Create account", we try to log in with your password and the username we guessed (without @domain). If that fails, we try to log in with username@domain as username.
