hi wally, this is a support issue and not a bug and it's probably an issue with your settings for AT&T Yahoo please check these support threads for the AT&T settings that should work for you (should is the operative word because AT&T are big companies and they have many mail servers and their settings sometimes vary unfortunately): http://getsatisfaction.com/mozilla_messaging/topics/cannot_send_messages http://getsatisfaction.com/mozilla_messaging/topics/cant_send_email_using_thunderbird_3 http://getsatisfaction.com/mozilla_messaging/topics/smtp_settings_are_correct_why_cant_i_send_email http://getsatisfaction.com/mozilla_messaging/topics/is_mozilla_thunderbird_ever_going_to_work_with_at_ts_pop_mail_now_that_theyve_made_the_switch_to_yahoos the settings that seem to work for most people are: BEGIN SETTINGS Change your "Incoming" server to 'pop.att.yahoo.com', port 995, connection security = "SSL/TLS" Change your "Outgoing" server to 'smtp.att.yahoo.com, port 465, connection security = "SSL/TLS" Ensure your "Incoming" server "User Name" setting is your full email address Ensure your "Outgoing server "User Name" is your full email address END SETTINGS If that doesn't help, in order for the community to focus on your topic and most effectively help you, please create a new community support topic at: http://getsatisfaction.com/mozilla_messaging/topics/new with the info requested in our README at: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Thunderbird/Support/GetSatisfaction/README
