When I first installed Lightning, I put some events in, both one-offs and recurring, and everything was working fine. This morning, I get this error, and I get it every time I try to either create or edit a calendar entry. My wife, running Lightning on the same laptop, doesn't get the same message, and she's able to create and remove events without complications. We're running profiles using absolute paths to a network drive, if that helps at all. I've Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Launch Thunderbird 2. Create an event using any method 3. Error popup appears. NB: If I double click on a recurring task, I'm first asked if I want to edit one or all, and after picking either option, the error message appears. Actual Results: XML Parsing Error: error in processing external entity reference Location: chrome://calendar/content/calendar-event-dialog.xul Line Number 56, Column 5: %eventDialogDTD; ----^ Expected Results: Expected the "Edit Event" dialogue box. I'll supply anything you ask for. I've tagged this as "Major", as calendar functionality it missing.

Maybe something messed with your profile folder? Did you install any new extension? I suggest to uninstall and reinstall Lightning 1.0b1 as a first test.

No new extensions were installed. I double-checked that the error message was still appearing before uninstalling. Happily, when I uninstalled and reinstalled Lightning 1.0b1, the bug vanishes. So now I'm left with a fully functioning Lightning install. Thanks for tip.

In Similar configuration: Win 7 Pro 64 bit with profiles mounted from a file server (NAS), similar problem (same error). This was with later versions of Thunderbird and Lightning though- 15.0.1 and 1.7 respectively. The fix here (reinstall Lightning) worked for me. I upgraded to 16.0.1 and 1.8 at the same time. One concern with this is, if it's going to happen every time I move the profile folder, I hope I don't lose all my calendar data if I have to keep removing and reinstalling Lightning.
I am still getting this problem Vista 32bit Thunderbird 31.0 Lightning 3.3b1
Could this be a language issue? What locale are you using?
