When starting the PSM from the Tasks menu, it takes several seconds until the PSM
window comes up, during which interval the X server remains grabbed. The menu
is not dismissed and the X server does not accept any input. To the user this
generally looks like a serious crash.
A similar thing happens after clicking on the lock icon - as long as PSM is in
the initialization it looks like nothing happens. At least it would be appropriate
to change the cursor to a watch here.

Change the permissions to the mozilla/psm/components directory to 777 and it'll
start working. also make sure all the files in that directory are mode 666.
the PSM program writes two files in that directory that is updates on every
start. and if it can't write them it quits and leaves mozilla hanging.
Would it not be better to chmod it 1777 (sticky bit) to get some more
protection?
Marking fixed. PSM 2.0 is now in-process. Starting up Netscape 6 with the
homepage as http://junruh took the same amount of time as with https://junruh as
the homepage - 9 secs. It used to take 10-15 secs. longer for the https home
page startup time.
