User-Agent: Stop looking at my (browser) string! Mozilla/5.0 (Windows) AppleWebKit/532.9 Iron/4.0.280.0 Chrome/4.0.280.0 Safari/532.9 Build Identifier: Version 3.0.4 When sending a message through MAPI with the MAPI command to immediately send the message without showing the user the 'compose new message' window, it will fail when the default mailaccount in Thunderbird is an IMAP account. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Configure an IMAP account as the default mailaccount. 2. Send a message from a SimpleMAPI program set to immediately send the message through Thunderbird. (don't show compose window). Actual Results: Messagebox in Thunderbird claiming that 'sending of message failed'. No message is sent. The message is discarded entirely. No copy in Sent folder. Expected Results: It should have sent the mail and saved a copy in the 'sent' folder of the IMAP mailaccount. INTERESTINGLY... if I configure a POP3 account, it works fine. I believe the reason for this is that when using a POP3 account the default 'sent' folder is in the Local Folders. If I configure my IMAP account to store a copy of my sent messages in the Local Folders' Sent folder - it works! When I use a program like Google Picasa, which also uses SimpleMAPI but DOESN'T IMMEDIATELY send the message (leaves the compose new message window open with attachment, subject and body already filled in but allows the user to edit the message before clicking on SEND) then it works fine, even if the sent mail folder is on an IMAP server. I have used NO themes, no add-ons. Nothing. Just Thunderbird 3.0.4 without any extensions.

Amendment; "If I configure my IMAP account to store a copy of my sent messages in the Local Folders' Sent folder - it works!" It now doesn't either - it worked only once but when I closed TB and started it again it failed too. Only a POP3 account as default mail account works when having the message sent immediately without user intervention through SimpleMAPI.
Can you attach your program which uses simple MAPI?
Summary: MAPI directsending fails when default account is MAPI account → MAPI directsending fails when default account is IMAP account
Edited the description because I realised I had written "when default account is MAPI account" when I meant to write "when default account is IMAP account". MAPI vs IMAP, heh.
But comment 2 probably still applies. Johan, is the problem still existing in Thunderbird 9?
aceman: I will run a test with TB9 tonight and let you know here.
Well, I'm not sure who, what, where or when, but yeah, when I test it now with TB9 it works! This bug appears to be resolved! I'll do some more tests this week to be absolutely sure. Also, the problem still occurs with TB3. Not sure which version solved it but with TB9 it appears resolved.
