Currently, Fennec for Android does not support speech input. The default browser on Android devices allows one to conduct Google Searches with the press of a button and speech input, currently it requires that users have the Voice Search package installed which comes with most firmware updates to Android 2.1

This seems to work for me. I tap the microphone on the keyboard of my N1 (running froyo), get the voice input dialog, speak and the text is entered. Marking WFM, please reopen if I'm missing something here.

My phone (Milesone) does not have a microphone key on the virtual keyboard. The browser has a button that brings up Android/Google Voice Search, i.e., see http://cdn.androidcommunity.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/android_voice_search_2.jpg

In order to get this button on the default browser I had to install the package 'Voice Search" application, i.e., http://googlemobile.blogspot.com/2009/02/search-with-your-voice-on-android.html

Now that I've gotten 2.2, it's built in and there exists a voice button on the VK.
