Is your homepage google.com?

Most likely is, today Google is honouring Pacman's 30th anniversary with a playable version of it in their logo. The sounds play automatically.

my homepage is NYtimes homepage. I have not used any google sites or applications today. The unwanted sound effects continue, regardless of what website I am on. The sound abates momentarily when I am loading a graphic heavy page. The sound stops only when I completely close Firefox.

Do you happen to have CoolPreviews 3.0.1 addon installed? The author found a bug and is fixing it. If CoolPreviews is enabled, the music plays even if you don't have Google opened in your browser tab. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2207/

Yes, I have CoolPreviews 3.0.1 installed. How do I disable coolpreviews until the bug is fixed?

The author makes mention "You can turn of the music by either (1) shutting off the volume on your computer system, or (2) temporarily disable CoolPreviews from Firefox Tools > Addons > Extensions > CoolPreviews. We should have a fix or a new download available later today on our website www.coolpreviews.com. We apologize for this inconvenience." Hope this helps Patricia!

Could this have anyting to do with Goodle celebrating Pac Man's Birthday today! I have the same problem, on Mac, with CoolPreviews. Will disable and reopen. BRB.
