I solved the problem by disabling the Shockwave Flash plug-in. Baring that no flash pop up window was in sight and there was no memorized tab on every restart of Firefox. Reproducible: Always
This is from google.com. It is pac-man's 30th birthday today. If you have google open, or cool previews installed, you will hear the sound.
