In the most recent Beta, "unread" messages stay unread even when they are deleted. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Highlight an "unread" message in a mailbox 2. Hit the delete key or ctrl-D 3. Actual Results: message moves to the appropriate Trash box, but is still shown as being unread Expected Results: A deleted message is automatically marked as read

This is a result of the fix in bug 545504. The way it is now is consistent with Classic Eudora. If you want to change it, you can change the "mail.deleteMarksRead" pref via Tools->Options->Advanced->Config Editor.
