Build Identifier: Eudora 8B1
Until now, Eudora/Penelope would automatically mark any message that had been deleted as "read." In the most recent Beta, "unread" messages stay unread even when they are deleted.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Highlight an "unread" message in a mailbox
2. Hit the delete key or ctrl-D
3.
Actual Results:
message moves to the appropriate Trash box, but is still shown as being unread
Expected Results:
A deleted message is automatically marked as read

This is a result of the fix in bug 545504. The way it is now is consistent with Classic Eudora. If you want to change it, you can change the "mail.deleteMarksRead" pref via Tools->Options->Advanced->Config Editor.
