There's been two bugs filed this week requesting VMs in Castro and we'll probably want a 2nd talos master there in the near future, too. Can we get more ESX space there to make these requests possible?
Not any time soon. The two ESX hosts in Castro were only meant for lightweight VMs to support the office. There's no external storage on them. If RelEng is building out a significant ESX install at Castro, we should think about what sort of hardware you need.
We're not looking at a huge expansion, just a few VMs to support the slaves that are already there. I would be very surprised if we needed more than 5 new VMs there in the next year.
There is only 300GB available. That's the constraint.

You can't get more space - no more disk slots available. Always possible to get more hardware/ESX.
(In reply to comment #3) > There is only 300GB available. That's the constraint. Is that 300gb already used, or still available for use? ...and what is the available cpu/ram situation? Do we have ability to create any VMs in Castro on the existing hardware?
I think the real issue is that these ESX hosts aren't meant for RelEng. That 300GB is available for other VMs that support the office.
Can we have an ESX server for RelEng VMs? With all the hosts we have in MV we need some server space to support them.
Talked to John in person about this.

15:01 < mrz> bhearsum: basically you guys might be able to get a vm or 2 15:01 < mrz> and then you need to find budget to get your own esx hosts
