I recently had an experience with Thunderbird where I had been offline for about 8 hours - in that time I composed many emails, as well as moved several hundred messages to an archived folder.

When going online (after I'd been on the plane), the process of syncing the folders took quite some time - the emails I had needed to send where actually quite mission critical. It was a pain.

Could there be a way for Thunderbird to know that sending the outbox was the most important thing to do first?

It should all be happening (almost) simultaneously, as the operations are async.
