The form-based username/password profile is one of the easiest ones to implement sign-in/sign-out for, and a good place to start. See the spec, and the Account Manager addon implementation for code.

We're changing direction and putting the previous Account Manager protocol on hold for a while. Closing these bugs to reflect reality.
