571872 - "Detailed description" field too short

This is meant to be the field for before the jump to the detailed about page, but its still too short at 500 characters.  Should be something more like 500 words, ie a paragraph description.

Analysis seems to indicate that 800 words is a good fit for this field

I just tried to enter 192 characters in that field, and it said maximum characters were 500.  Seems the bug is more than just the character number

Re: 192 chars, I can't replicate that problem. Be aware that if you are using the rich text editor, extra characters (markup) will be inserted into the field, so that *might* be what you're experiencing (regular, authorized users can't use the RTE, so they won't encounter that). 

I seem to recall that there was some discussion about the length of this field and it was agreed that it should remain 500 chars because it forces project leads to be concise and to think about what text should go there. 

Is there any consensus on what the limit *should* be? Ned has pitched 800 words, which is a substantial change from 500 characters. Matt? You're probably the "decider" here :)
