The results from the recent Getting Started optimization tests are in, and version C (bug 558364) was the clear winner. So, we'd like to make that the *official* version of the page.

In the short term, moving over the content from 558364 to the correct URL is probably fine. However, the one drawback of this version of the page is that it loads much slower than the others...probably b/c all the rollover modules are loading at once.

Ideally we'd optimize the page further by only loading first module when the page launches and then loading the others in the background. How much extra work would that be? If it's a small to moderate amount, I'd like to get that taken care of before we relaunch the page. If it's a lot of work, we should go ahead and launch this and then optimize afterward.

Thanks!
One other note - this is for en-US right now, but I'll talk to the l10n team about the strategy for that.
Just to make sure, it's this version we're talking about, right? http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/central/test-c

Yeah, it is. from what Blake was saying it loos like it was taking an average of 12 seconds for people to load this page, which is definitely far from ideal.
It looks like each video is getting partially loaded to grab the first frame (about 100Kb each). This might be something we can improve by using POSTER frames. There are probably other optimizations possible too.

So, this test performed the best even though it takes 12 seconds to load? That long load time isn't skewing the stats, is it?
It does skew the results, but we can statistically control for that.
This is done in trunk in r68927, r68930, and r68935

Merged to stage in r68936. Files to push are all listed in r68936.
