[A page from the i-bench capabilities test suite. ] Using Commercial 2000101808 on WinNT 4.0 SP4. To repro: 0) make sure you've got Flash installed in Netscape 6 1) install Shockwave into Nav4 on your machine; don't attempt to have the installer install the DLLs directly into the N6 directory because it won't work (tries to run Netscape.exe in N6 directory and doesn't find it) 2) restart and verify that Shockwave works on Nav4 3) copy these files from the Nav4 plugins directory to the N6 plugins directory: npswf32.dll np32dsw.dll ShockwavePlugin.class 4) go to http://www.shockwave.com/ and play the Madonna video single to verify that you've got Shockwave working in Netscape 6 (it plays fine but is cheesy) 5) go to above URL (it runs a Flash animation just fine) 6) click "Next" Expected: Shockwave animation plays Actual: "Welcome to Shockwave!" dialog pops up, saying "You're getting the free Shockwave Player! When you click Next, the Next button is grayed out but nothing happens. The mystery: Shockwave is already installed and we know it's working fine. So why did this page cause the "You're getting Shockwave" dialog to pop up as if Shockwave were not installed? I assume it is triggered by some piece of code sniffing for Shockwave and not finding it? Could it be caused by client sniffer code failing, either due to poor client sniffer code design or a product bug?

If after clicking the Next button (which grays out) you click on the little X in the top right hand of the dialog to close it, you get a warning saying that the download hasn't completed yet, and if you click OK on that, you get a little dialog saying Shockwave Error 9.

The ShockwavePlugin.class file will not be used by n6 - that's the Java LiveConnect class file, which needs to be replaced with an xpcom type library for scripting to work in n6. Without looking at the source, the sniffer may be trying to call into the plugin via LiveConnect, which will fail. The sniffer might then conclude that the plugin needs to be installed.

Nominating for rtm consideration for a limbo fix if we can develop a patch. Andrei, can you investigate what we might need to fix?

http://www.shockwave.com/bin/shockwave/content/content.jsp?id=madonnamusic is the url in question. In its JavaScript code it says: if (swVersion < 7.03000 || flashVersion < 4.0015) { window.open("http://www.shockwave.com/bin/shockwave/save/popup.jsp","popup703"," width=350,height=420"); } } else { document.location.replace("http://www.shockwave.com/bin/shockwave/error/content_ player.jsp?content=madonnamusic&version=4&id=flash") } So, according to the code it pops up the window if your version of the player is older than 4.0015. I had 4.0012 and saw the problem. After upgrading to 5.smthng the problem went away. INVALID?
OK, my last comment was about Madonna page which displayed the described behaviour. I did not look at the originally reported page though.
All right, I don't see the described problem on the original page with the latest version of the player. But there is another issue: when you try to use JavaScript navigation buttons it locks the browser as if the dialog is somewhere not visible but modal. Anybody can confirm. I am using trunk build of approximately two days old.

Hmm..this is working fine for me using 10-31-14 branch build on windows (limbo1). After I click the NEXT button, I am sent to http://i-bench.zdnet.com/ibench/testlist/home_js.php#cvFlash Hopefully this is the right behaviour.

The test url does not exist, however, I tried other tests on this website. The 'Next' button functions properly on 0127 branch and trunk. VERIFIED.
