Reproducibility:ALways. TO Reproduce:Load the URL. Results: Even though the window title shows correctly (Never mind if you can not display Japanese fonts), Task menu shows Blank Menu Item, and if you can add Bookmark, it is added as Blank Menu Item. Interestingly, the added bookmark item shows upcorrectly in the Manage Bookmark window.
confirmed with 2000101608 mac trunk build

It seems like "~" in Japanese fonts are causing the problem.
As described in bug 62626, there is a discrepancy in Unicode mapping between MacOS a and others. That probably is the root cause of this bug.
Netscape Nav triage team: this is not a Netscape beta stopper. Changing component to XP Toolkit Menus

very interesting --i've seen this when selecting Bookmark this Link and Bookmark this Page from the context menu --and they appear greyed-out. i was doing this with various pages at mozilla.org, so i'm unsure if what i'm seeing is this particular bug, or if this bug isn't caused by japanese fonts. the annoying thing is that once i surfed to another page, the Bookmarks menu properly displayed the links --and that i could reproduce it again. :( tested using 2001.04.25.09 comm bits.
pink, have you seen any "blank menu item" bugs recently?
This bug (well, it seems like a related bug) still exists on 1.0.0 and 1.1a (2002061103) for Mac OS 9. Not sure about other platforms. It appears when the "Name" of the bookmark is blank/null. To reproduce: Go to Bookmarks -> Manage Bookmarks. Create a new sub-folder. Put 3 different bookmarks in that sub-folder. Edit the second bookmark (Apple-I). In the edit window, change the name to be blank and then "OK". Close the Manage Bookmarks window. Now when you pull down the main menu under Bookmarks, the second and third item in the sub-folder show up as "Blank Menu Item". All menu items in the sub-folder listing after the blank one are listed as "Blank Menu Item". Not sure how this appeared originally. I think it was when Mozilla converted a 4.76 profile, but all my 4.76 bookmarks had non-null names. None of my bookmarks had any Japanese characters in them that I know of, and I don't have any Japanese fonts installed.
No problem now on 2002112608/Mac 9.2.2. This is fixed by Bug 108136.
