Mozilla seems to behave like a little child that always want to show what it has new and to get all attention. You may think that having windows that always pop to front (even when they were already existing but only changed content) is a minor problem but I work much with mozilla and with many open windows and this behaviour makes me clicking the wrong things and loosing downloads etc. because the right moment the wrong window comes up. It is horribly confusing and stressing!
over to xp apps, enhancement request
This isn't a Linux-specific problem; I see it on Macintosh as well. This is probably a duplicate of someone's bug... anyone know which one? I wouldn't regard this as an enhancement request... it's 4.x parity
Errrrr.... I don't quite get it. All browsers behave this way and always have. It's considered a feature. In fact, the ability to open windows *behind* the current window is a security problem, and explicitly disallowed without special dispensation. Other people have made similar comments. Besides the bug 29346 Jake mentioned, see also bug 42557 and bug 56690. Those include specific suggestions for improving the situation. If you have an idea for something specific, feel free to reopen this one and add the suggestion, or make an addendum to one of those other bugs, if appropriate.
actually, the bug I was thinking of is #14716.
