Hello! I routinely leave some messages marked "unread" so I can get back and process them later. Unfortunately, once in a while, when I mean to "compact folder", I accidentally click on "mark folder read", which is right next to it in the mailbox' context-menu... I think, the "mark folder read" should ask for confirmation, because, philosophically, that's data-loss -- no less so than a partially-written message, for example.

I don't think this it would be right to put in a confirmation dialog - for one thing it would interrupt most people's workflow. Added that since Thunderbird 3 (at least) we've got the capability to undo mark folder as read. So if you do it accidentally, you can just undo it.

I agree with Mark - undo is the answer. I think this should be wontfix. You could also add the compact folder button to the toolbar, which would be less error-prone than the menu.

Didn't know, this can be undone... If so, Ok, I guess, asking for confirmation will annoy more people, than not-asking...
