User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv:1.9.3a6pre) Gecko/20100616 Firefox 3.6.3
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv:1.9.3a6pre) Gecko/20100616 Firefox 3.6.3

Just like WMP12 and other modern music player in Win 7 , firefox should also get equipped with Player controls while playing audio/video.
This will be really great improvement for Windows 7

I agree that this step has not been taken by any browser , which makes me think that it is really difficult , but still this can be done with after some reflection

I hope Devs like the idea

But yeah , one problem is there , if we have more than one tab opened , this mechanism can not work

Still i feel this can be implemented to some extent
This would be possible, if we used idea in bug 582370. But I don't think that is a good idea; taskbar would be cluttered.

How's that not working?
When I have multiple tabs open, it shows me multiple thumbnail previews.

Good idea. The problem I foresee is when there is more than one video on a tab, other than that, it's a great idea.
The question is what to do if user had disable per tab previews.

Thanks for good response :)

If , we assume that this is going to be implemented , we will face few problems :

1)How to check which page needs video/audio controls
2)Placement of these controls for more than one page

I think that the support is for HTML5 videos only.
Or am I wrong?

Comment 11

That would be the only way to support it properly. With flash, you never quite know what you're gonna get.

BTW can anyone actually create it?

Was there any reason this never got to either being marked NEW or WONTFIX?

Now that Firefox 4 development is almost over , and HTML5 and "web apps" have become new trend , i want to extend this idea to web apps. Can we make the browser to use the audio/video controls whenever a site like youtube , or last fm , etc is made a web app?

Perhaps if you broaden the scope of the bug to provide general custom toolbar controls in WebApps you may be able to make it depend on bug 605222?
