Summary: Add xml to set option to deselect the "server supports folders that contain sub-folders and messages" option from the advanced IMAP settings? → Add xml to set option to deselect the "server supports folders that contain sub-folders and messages" option from the advanced IMAP settings
Shall that stay in general or is it ispdb/ account manager ?
It's account manager. And BenB is probably interested in it. (And feel free to steal it away from me if you want, Ben.)

Thanks,
Blake.

I think only UW-IMAP is retarded enough to not support dual folders (it's a serious user-visible and annoying limitation). And from what bienvenu said, we don't support that server anymore.
I don't know what you mean by "dual folders", but it sounds like we've got a option that we can't set through the autoconfig XML.

What the summary says: "folders that contain sub-folders and messages"

> it sounds like we've got a option that we can't
> set through the autoconfig XML.

Of course! There are tons and tons of options that the XML doesn't have. Intentionally so. We have a quadrillion prefs for all the fringe servers and setups.

I was the original requester of this feature and we're using dovecot which is a fairly well supported IMAP server on most linux distributions.

Without being able to set this option the user experience of Thunderbird is poor as folders don't work properly and can't be deleted. Once the option is set then Thunderbird works normally.

Huh. That's a little odd, Jonathan. I'm running dovecot on OSX, and I can have folders within folders just fine. Have you disabled it somehow, and if so, could I ask why?

Thanks,
Blake.

Probably depends on the storage format chosen. Dovecot supports both mbox and Maildir storage formats.

Why somebody would use mbox, when given the choice of Maildir, I don't know, esp, given this restriction.

You might think so, but dovecot looks like it's got code in it to allow Thunderbird to work just fine with mbox. (I was checking the config file, and ran across "tb-extra-mailbox-sep".)

Later,
Blake.
I don't think I'm going to have time to work on this in the near future, so I'm unassigning myself from this bug.

Thanks,
Blake.
